Creating and developing an app which could potentially reach a mass audience all around the UK will be expensive. I have undertaken research to discover the prices needed develop my product.
This app is so expensive for various different factors which include costs to cover the following:
-An app icon
-The design - I would need to hire an app/visual designer to create something visually engaging to appeal to my targeted demographic
-All of the content will be individual. It won't work in synergy with other social media platforms because I intend for all of the content to be original and suitable for viewing purposes on different phones
-Custom interface: the map and individual characters to represent each customer. This will add extra costs because it is an advanced feature and will create a personal feature for everyone.
-Available on both IOS and Android phones.
In addition to the app itself I will have to consider costs to cover paying for advertisements and working alongside both the clothing and events brands. As these are visual elements I would also have to consider hiring photographers etc.
As I am planning on creating an app with frequent updates my business would have to grow so I could hire people to reply to the customer's needs and provide the content on my app.
After conducting this research I realised how expensive developing a product on this scale would be because everything has to be considered and funded efficiently.
App Settings:
Privacy is a vital aspect of my app because I want to ensure each customer feels comfortable in uploading content as they are able to control who sees it. I have researched various safety controls for both android and apple devices and here are a few features I will include to enhance privacy:
The ability to turn your location off whilst on the app. I will make it clear to the customer that when you phone’s location service is on, your exact location becomes public online.
When you stay online on social media on the go, all your activities are being tracked through cookies.
When you connect to public Wi-Fis, you are prone to attacks like MITM and identity theft - therefore my app will include an offline feature to prevent this
Retailers can collect your data behind your back through the Wi-Fis at their stores.
When you share too much private data on apps that you assume as “secure” or “trustworthy”.
You will also have to accept people as 'friends' so they can see what you share
Background check - I intend to create a safe community and whilst signing up to the app you will have to undertake a couple of tests to determine your reasoning to signing up
