ALTERNATIVE BLOG RESEARCH

Zoella:

1.What is Zoella interested in?

It is clear looking at Zoella's blog that she is interested in typical 'girly' content. Her content ranges from lifestyle, beauty, food and her internal thoughts. Her blog varies in posts and I think that is what has made her so successful as you never know what she will post.

2.What worked well in each blog post?

In each blog post you can see the content is quite personal. I also like how in each blog post there are a variety of different images. The visual content such as: images, is of a high quality and therefore engaging. She also used colloquial language to engage the reader. It was also

3.What didn’t work well with each blog post?

Reading over her blog she has been posting for years and the content doesn't seem to mature with her. Although she started this blog at 19 and has posts up until her late twenties the writing is limited and the content hasn't shifted to match an older audience.

4.Who was it aimed at?

Zoella's blog is aimed towards young girls between 12-18 as she talks about school pressures and it comes across as being quite 'innocent.' The colours and imagery portray an almost 'perfect' lifestyle which would attract a younger demographic. The writing is also limited and digestible because it is clear and separated with various sub-headings.

1.What is Karen interested in?

Karen's blog varies in content in comparison to Zoella, as she remains professional and the blog appears to be more simplistic. Although the blog isn't completely formal, she distances herself from the viewer.

2: What worked well in each blog post?

Throughout the different posts Karen engages directly with the viewer and answers questions that they would want to hear about. She also uses various graphs and statistics to back up her evidence.

3:What didn't work well in each blog post?

There is a lack of visuals and the layout is quite basic. Not as interesting to read.

4: Who is it aimed at?

Karen's blog is aimed at men and women who are 21+ and are looking for career advice. The language is quite advanced and there is a lot of content which wouldn't interest a younger viewer like Zoella's
